Jhakoka-e-Udaipur

City of lakes, Venice of the east, Kashmir of Rajasthan and storehouse of several stories
Udaipur is charismatic beauty from head to toe. Even after adopting a big city lifestyle, Udaipur still retains its rich cultural heritage.

Udaipur has each ingredient to serve in its relishing platter to every visitor. Fairy-tale palaces, lakes, temples, gardens, vibrant and colourful festivals and narrow lanes strewn with stalls, carry the flavor of Mewar.
Winsomeness of Udaipur is honored by City Palace, which was built 400 years ago with multiple Mewar ruler's contributions, on the east bank of Lake Pichola.

Juggling between Mughals and Maharanas, the palace has not lost its eternal glamor and got handed over to the successive Maharanas. The unique aspect of this conglomeration is that the architectural design is distinctly homogeneous.

The palace complex has been built entirely in granite and marble. The interiors of the palace exhibit mirror-work, marble-work, murals, wall paintings, silver-work, inlay-work and leftover of colored glass. The exit of this palace opens in Jagdish temple streets.  Jagdish temple has been in continuous worship since 1651, standing robust with Mewar Dynasty. The summit of the main temple is adorned with the statues of horsemen, elephants, musicians, and dancers who were practicing in those gone by days when temple was established. The main temple is 32 steps away from the entrance. It is believed that the idol of Lord Vishnu tends to have a hypnotic effect on the devotees and bring a sense of calmness and serenity. Adjacently, Jagdish chowk market lures anybody, literally anybody to shopping from traditional jewelry, pagdis, traditional clothes and wooden handicrafts to all hippie stuff and quirky clothing.

Next to this market, there is Bagore ki Haweli.  Right on the waterfront of Lake Pichola at Gangaur ghat, built by the Prime Minister of Mewar.

In the evening, the haveli lightens and stages the enjoyable performance of folk dance and music of Rajasthan in the name of "DHAROHAR".

Moving on to my favorite corner of Sun N Moon Rooftop cafe located at gangaur ghat itself. From breathtaking scenic views to lip-smacking food has all of it. Another food joint, which in itself is the chaat paradise is at Sukhariya Circle, Udaipur 7 types of golgappa pani, pav bhaji, chole kulche etc etc etc..
If you have ever fantasized like me of sitting on the roundabout in the middle of the road and scallop dishes ...bang on, this is the place making your dream come true. And if you want to dive deeper in this taste bud tingling journey, then do try Rajasthani daal baati churma at Santosh Bhojnalaya.
Being a city surrounded by four lakes and Aravali range it caters all type of visitors. Be it ropeway, vintage car museums, lok kala parichay, bike riding, off-road biking, romantic honeymoon, pottery, boating, excavating history from its culture, serene cafes, hookas, shopping, gobbling food and enjoying lake view. You name it and have it.
A lot more to jot, however, it's endless.
