Happy Friendship Day 2022

Gunjan Bharadwaj | 07th August 2022

Hello, hey there, what's up, hey bruh, daah....................to..
Hey how have you been, it's been a while, long time no see.............to...tu zinda hai k parlok nikal liya?
A kind love, an unconditional support system, friendship is never out of the league.
Silliest mistakes, careless talks, squeezing money for a friend in need in a judgement free zone, be it late night food hunting or early morning chai ki tapri, at some random hill, I have it all in my list which we have done together. Being with such personalities who may be a reason of your multiple conspiracies ..is a lifetime memory and part of my own story.

With aging and other commitments you may not be talking everyday, you still feel their pain, you still know whenever you need them they will reach out to you, in worst of your time they are standing tall. Having such life partners is a tempting treat.

The toughest part of this relationship is to keep it alive, people come n go in life but being with ones who were supposed to be your kins in their thick n thins is never easy.

My idea or you can call it a yet not achieved goal of friendship is inspired from 19th century, my grandfather, my dad, they have a certain level in their friendship. Their friends were no less than families. 60's reunion in a school uniform, tea parties of endless chats about kisne kis ko kitne dhoke diye, preparing a meal with very personalized touch for your friend when you are 70 already..... admiring this pure non malign love since my childhood.

Is there an official Friendship Day?

I should confess on this Friendships day that I haven't been this committed, a feeling of deep-seated resentment still exist. Expectation of him/her calling me as I am grieving, expecting him/her to be available as n when I need them, expecting them to be back on their own. To be in this state is no luxury m sure. As we are a part of social media exposed generation wherein people are highly expressive and with sudden NON-EXPECTED cold instances when you are already fancying for a bollywood movie inspired friendship goals, it HURTS! The poor friend on the other side of the world, unknowingly hurt you on the grounds of your non attained desirable attention.
Yes, friends are supposed to be your support system but you need to call out for help, express your wishes and give them their predefined space which they own.

Happy Friendship!

To keep in touch is in the simplest form of all time now, a phone call - once in a while is enough to let them know you still care for them. Even if you are not swearing on your friendship, not going to holidays together, not partying the whole night,  and yet manages to hold tight, Salute to you.

I have friends who can sense my voice, can make me smile, can hear me crying in a non-judgemental zone, what else I can EXPECT!!.

Is it a Summer Wedding?

Thinking of How To Plan A Food and Drink Menu For Your Summer Wedding?

Dreaming of an elaborated and elegant wedding, one can’t afford to miss on the food! The scrumptious meals are now reaching to different levels altogether… From the refreshing drinks to the spirited ones, tasty starters, and yummy mains, and of course the indulgent sweets - knowing what you pick for your guests is really what makes for a savory memory.

Why food is this important? Because, Food has always given an identity to every culture.

Summer Wedding Ideas

It has history, it has a story, it has relationships and it is culture. Food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate - may be this is the reason of feasting.
Yes… Weddings are a feast for the eyes as well as the appetite. Choosing the right food and drink options according to season is essential to pulling together your vision of a perfect wedding.
Summer wedding menu will likely to be called a fresh, flavorful, fruity menu… So, a summer Indian wedding menu has got to pick up on the flavors and the foods that make eating in summer just as much fun as gorging on food in chilly winters. However, planning your menu, especially for a summer wedding, is not an easy task.

Want to wow your guests and make sure the food fully fits the season? These trendy summer wedding – healthy menu ideas of appetizers, main courses, side dishes, desserts, and cocktails will surely satisfy your thirst of search.

Kausani – is cradled under the lush hills of Kumaon Himalayas and provides stunning 360-degree panoramic views of the snow-crested Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nandakot, and Panchchuli peaks.

With a tickle in my travel appetite, I set myself up to step in the lap of nature. Talking of the nature, the calmness, the open skies, the chills from fresh air, made it very easy for me to narrow down to select this destination. Therefore, I planned a Trip of the Uttrakhand’s Kumaon Region of large Himalayan tract, covering Nainital, Ranikhet, Kausani and Almora.

There is an Icelandic proverb that says- "You will reach your destination even though you travel slowly." Holds true for Kausani.

Such an untapped place it is. Tucked atop a ridge, the village is engulfed by dense pine trees overlooking the Someshwar Valley, Garur, and Katyuri Valleys! Very few places in the world can boast of beauty similar to Kausani and the tiny village enjoys the stature of a cute, quaint hill station of Uttarakhand.

Kausani

A pacifying place for solo travelers and a paradise for bloggers like me. Photogenic, calm, and a virgin place when it comes to monetization of hill stations.

In terms of distance, the village is about 51 km north of Almora. Kausani is an ideal winter destination. Even more so, this is the perfect place to ring for the Peaceful New Year Eves! Winter season boasts of the most stunning crystalline views of snow-covered peaks! However, don’t let this stop you from visiting in the summer months from April to June – which provide their own kind of beauty. With days beginning earlier, you’ll be greeted by chirping birds and stunningly bright, take-your-breath-away, kind of views!

>>>>>Refer to my packing tips for getting ready and get to the roads for witnessing one of the most exciting road trip.

Things to do in Kausani

Trek For Experiencing the height

If you’re a true-blue nature lover and need seclusion – you’ve chosen, the right location! Kausani is for the ones who think with their soul and search for experiences to fill their hearts with the pace of nature. The definition of idyllic, Kausani will offer you stunning walks into dense forests or exceptional treks to reach the highest of the hills. Some of the worthiest treks nearby include heading to Pinnath (5 kms), Burapinnath (5.5 kms) and Bhatkot (12 kms).

Trail Walk

Walking down the steep lanes of Kausani can never disappoint you. The lush green farmlands spread across the banks of river Kosi, the gushing sound of water, with this view, is nothing but soulful. This place is serene and tranquil. Apart from natural beauty (which you can get to your heart’s desire), there are a lot of other things to do as well.

Himalaya

Village Tour

Rustic cottages, simple kumaoni people and their homemade delicious food, what else do you think a countryside experience needs. Be it the warmth of their hospitality or Kausani's untraveled roads, this place has incomparable embryonic vibes.

Himalayan Treck

Places to Eat

As mentioned this place has not been monetized yet, so no such known extravagant restaurants and cafes. In house, restaurants are still going to be your best bet!

On your way back to Nainital there are a few cafes, out of which I like Mud House Cafe, the valley view from here is dripping calm.

Mud cafe

Kausani's Most Common Top 5 Things to Do

Whenever and wherever you search Kausani you will hear about The Shawl Factory. Established to promote the traditional Kumaoni artwork, this industry now serves as a major source of employment for the local people, shepherds and weavers. Shawls and handicrafts are available in myriad colors and designs and hence make the place popular with tourists.
Another tourist spot is
Anasakti Ashram, has been built as a tribute to the Mahatma who visited this place for about two weeks in 1929.
Not to be missed site is
Baijnath Temple. The temple complex was built by the Katyuri kings and the temples are constructed in stone. Less than 20 km from Kausani this Baijnath temple complex since 12th century is located on the banks of the river Gomti.
Rappelling and Trekking demand major shout-outs. Even some resorts provide activities like Burma Bridge which is an unstable bridge walk with only ropes to hold on to. However, make sure that you get professional help before you indulge in such activities and are equipped with the right set of gears.

Places to Stay in Kausani

Chevron eco-lodge and Aashritha Kausani are a few off-beaten places to stay. The food is delicious, view of the valley is mesmerizing and the comfort is equally good.

Surrounded by mountains, forests, and a river it isn’t hard to find something to do every day in Kausani. When people ask me what’s the tourist trail in India and I include the mountains. Uttarakhand is a tourist spot that not many people are talking about yet. However, given all that it has to offer – I think we should start taking the road less travelled and, well, travel!

Synopsis: Personal reasons or inbuilt pressure of giving their best to every role often compel Indian women to take a career break. Here is why and how they can resume and recoup their career.

Gunjan Bharadwaj | 16th September 2021

When I decided to take a break from work to have a baby, I vowed to be back soon. Unaware, of the fact that motherhood is not a 2-3  years task, instead, it is quite overwhelming, demands 24*7*365 days of engagement. Although I had every intention to get back to work,  it got postponed, then delayed,  with every other milestone of the little one.
Being unemployed, then justifying such gaps to yourself, and getting back to work, is a very tricky part emotionally. It needs rigorous brainstorming, believe me on this! Being a woman and a mother is not the same thing.
So let's peep into this thinking cloud, once again with me, to find the answers of basic but foremost WHYs, IFs, BUTs, that come to our mind while making any such decisions.

Why Do We Want to Work?

Isn't this tune running through your head all day, the moment you think of recouping after good long years? Why I want to work, if at all I want to resume, is it worth, leave it there is nothing more important to me than my child, money is not everything, I shall invest my time in my kid and shape a better character for his/her future. These thoughts have kept me occupied for years. Always after every interview call, I felt the same. This agitation of being independent and raising a child in a monitored environment has left me with depression of wanting something else and ending up in doing something other than ordinary.
The reason why a woman should be independent is for her stability and satisfaction. There is no space for sulking or inferiority complex, instead, profound adequacy can be attained in monitory terms as well. Economic necessity is no longer the incentive unless it is really dire.

How to Resume Work After a Gap?

Boost up your Skills

Now when you have decided to resume then next comes the step of preparation. Here, "next" is about being prepared for the "next level". Evaluate your skillset and cope with the latest market trend. One must keep himself updated with what is going on where. Remember, research is your responsibility. So spend some time analyzing how market trends have changed, what are the most in-demand skills in your targeted field or industry and how technologies have evolved in the last few years. This research will improve your credibility as a job candidate and help you stand out from the crowd. Only then resuming could be made easier and smooth. Prepare yourself to justify that the taken break was not a break literally.

Good Resume

If you have a good resume, shortlisting is a sure thing. Your selection is 80% resume and rest 20% is your performance in interviewing rounds. Be selective while quoting your skills, review and customize it as per the job role. It is important to understand what the employer wants and how fit are you for the role. This will reduce the chances of being underprepared.

Balance Is Important, Change is constant!

Keep it in mind that you require to make some changes in your daily schedule and reassess the priority on your to-do list, there is no need of killing oneself in trying to manage work and home.

How to Find a Job?

Now comes in how to find a job? Do some research online and find out what employers are looking for in the candidate. You can use job posting websites such as Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Indeed and read the job description of your targeted role. You can also check the job websites of your dream companies.

Justify Your Gap!

Be prepared to justify your gap, as an employer they will seek honesty. You could tailor your answers to demonstrate how your break will benefit the role you are now applying for. Think critically about some of the concerns an interviewer may have. They may wonder whether you’re ready to get back on the career ladder, assure them with your satisfactory confident answers.

Hope for the best sounds cliché, but manifestations do work. You may have cold feet after thinking about burdensome responsibility of managing home, children and work, Yes it could be difficult in the initial phase but then you will get used to it sooner.
Self-reliance is one of the most important attributes of personal freedom. This blog may inspire you, speak to you, or urge you to strive harder and to be free from any external control or constraint.
Believe in yourself, you have all the answers inside you.
The more you trust yourself, the easier your life will flow.

Seoul - The first city of South-Korea.

Seoul is a dynamic city where modern skyscrapers and high-tech public transport meet the traditional palaces, Buddhist temples, street markets, and mountain trails. The city hosts major shopping thoroughfares with bars and markets that stay open for 24 hours.

Since the end of Korean War, the city has had major transformation and it is constantly progressing towards its current status as a global economic force and major player in the world of technology.

The Han River flows through the city with twenty-nine bridges that span its waters enabling people to shuttle from north to south of the city via trains, buses or cars.

I happen to learn and explore a lot about the city during my short visit to Seoul. The city is so attractive that it will make you fall in love with itself.

Here is my list of what you can’t miss in Seoul!

Key Attraction in Seoul | Top Things to do in Seoul | Best Places to Visit in Seoul

Gyeongbokgung Palace

Also known as Palace of Shining Happiness. It is located on the city’s main boulevard, Sejongro, close to the Blue House, the President’s residence. It was built by King Taejo at the end of the fourteenth century. A walk through the grounds of this Joseon Dynasty palace is a walk back in time. It is connected to the Jongmyo, a Cofucian shrine to kings and queens of the Korean Josean Dynasty. English tours can be booked in advance, or simply look out for one of the ‘greeters’.

Hyangwonjeon Pavilion is artfully built on an artificial island of a lake which make it beautifully captured by lens. The highlight of the palace is Guard Changing Ceremony where all the guards with traditional clothes, followed by a raging music instrument, march with flags, sword, and shield on hand. It is truly a mesmerizing experience.

Admission Fee: 3000 won
Nearest Station: Gyeongbokgung Palace Station (Subway Line 3, exit 5)
Gate Guard Changing Ceremony Schedule: 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p,m.

Located inside the palace is the National Folk Museum. It comprises three tall interconnecting buildings and they house artefacts, relics and paintings from the different periods of Korean history ranging from pre-history right through to occupation by the Japanese. Entry is free.

Bukchon Hanok Village

Don’t have time to visit traditional village in Gyeongju or Andong Hahoe Folk Village? Worry no.
In Seoul you can still see a complex of traditional houses. With more than 1,000 hanoks, some of them remains as a living place for Koreans. Some houses are opened as guesthouse, or just a mini museum for people. If you are interested, you can participate in many traditional Korean crafts. For example: learn how to play a traditional Korean instrument. It is also a great place for taking instagramable pictures.

Make sure to go to Samcheong-dong Culture Street; every Saturday there is a market and throughout the weekend there are many street performers A special feeling when you walk through the hilly alleys.

Nearest station: Anguk Station (Subway line 3, exit 2 )

N Seoul Tower (Namsan Seoul Tower)

N Seoul Tower attracts travelers with the opportunity so see a stunning view of Seoul City from the observatory deck. Standing on the top of Namsan Mountain, originally functioned as communication and observation tower, the enchanting view awaits you. Need not to miss having dinner in N-Grill Restaurant.

There are seven tree-shaped frames covered with Wish Padlocks at the base of the tower. Chains of locks are stacked forming a tree of locks full of wishes from people around the world.

If you are a fitness freak then just climb the stairs to reach on top of the tower or else take a cable car.

Admission Fee: 9,000 won for observatory, 12,000 won for alive museum
Cable car: 8,500 won for return, 6,000 for one way
Nearest Station: Myeongdong Station (Subway Line 4), walk about 15 minutes towards pacific hotel.

Districts in Seoul

Seoul has many interesting districts with different vibes and characters. The famous Gangnam District (Gangnam Station line 2) is for upper class Seoulists with branded shops and pricey clubs.

Hongdae District

(Hongik Univ Station line 2) most backpacker hostels can be found here. Maybe can be said as never sleep district. Full of youngster, the hype is just so wild and young with lots of bars, restaurant and small shops.

Our favorite area of the city! Always busy with many youngsters, street performances, which results in a great vibe. Located right in the middle of the area is the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. It’s a unique place where you can enjoy urban culture and greenery at the same time. It’s also a great place to have a beer at night with friends and mix with the locals.

Itaewon

Itaewon is more like expat district because it is near to US military camp. Very clean environment, unique shops and hosts western type of restaurant.

Itaewon feels like a different world in the city. This is the foreigner’s neighborhood of Seoul, where you can find the multicultural part of Korea. It might not be the most traditional of places but it’s a prime example of the way foreigners have weaved their way into the fabric of Korean society and what makes expat life in Korea different from anywhere else.

Dongdaemun Market

Dongdaemun Market is more down to earth, suitable for everybody who seeks for affordable option.

Myeongdong District

Myeongdong District is known for its affordable prices and the irresistible street food!
Looking for traditional Korean Souvenirs or artistic stuffs, make your way to Insadong (Anguk Station line 3) and check out the beautifully decorated stores there.

DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone)

The cold war between South and North Korea can be felt in DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), the buffer zone between two countries. The two squabbling countries agreed to set up the DMZ, an area of 2 kilometers on each side of the appointed line.

The DMZ tour from Seoul will take you to witness the gloomy past of the war happened between both countries. It also covers the observatory deck, where you can see directly the land of North Korea, and deserted Dori Station which is supposed to connect Asia and Europe. In this tour you will learn what happened in the past, and about the hopes of people to end this war.

War Memorial of Korea

Memorial exhibits, war memorabilia, art works, and military equipment. It is a perfect place to learn about Korea’s history of war, most notably with North Korea. Also displayed here, are the pillars representing the support provided to South Korea from various different nations.

There are many more exciting things in and around Seoul such as COEX Mall (Asia’s largest underground shopping mall), temples and palaces.

Indeed, Seoul often presents itself as a city of colorful garden, a mirror of its past and a reflection of its future. 😊
